San Angelo Chamber of Commerce recognizes TimeClock Plus as they Celebrate 25th Year

SAN ANGELO, Texas, Sept. 8, 2013 /Standard-Times/

Small Business Success

According to research conducted July of 2013 by Entrepreneur Weekly, Small Business Development Center, Bradley University, and the University of Tennessee, most small businesses will fail within the first four years of business. In fact, if the business is in the information industry, that failure rate is 63%. Moreover, only a fraction of companies, according to the report, will hold their doors open after 10 years. Yet TimeClock Plus, now 25 years old, has not only become one of the nation’s most recognized time and attendance leaders with growth in sales, facility, and market share, the company has done so, surprisingly, in West Texas.

The city of San Angelo is regarded by many as one of the best small cities for business and employment, ranking 7th in the nation in the 2010 Forbes Magazine’s Best Cities For Jobs. With all the city has to offer it is still not a city where one would expect to find a thriving technology company. However, TimeClock Plus, in typical West Texas style, has built a successful tech company with a hometown philosophy. “The story is truly one of success bred by determination, hard work, faith, and keen business savvy,” said Phil Neighbors, President of the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce.

Founded by Jorge Ellis and Johnny Fender in 1988, TimeClock Plus has grown from a small operation with a number of employees that could be counted on one hand, to a multimillion dollar business with more than 100 employees in a new 24,000 ft. facility.

Entrepreneurial Spirit in a Competitive Market

“I believe some people may not recognize the level of effort, risk, faith, sacrifice, and persistence it takes to create a successful business,” says Jorge Ellis, President and Founder of TimeClock Plus. “It takes more than a good idea. It takes an unrelenting dedication to the vision, an overwhelming responsibility to the employees, and an unwavering commitment to continued education and learning. We are constantly striving to produce the best product and offer the best services in the industry. That is how we’ve become a market leader.”

The time and attendance industry is very competitive. Any Google search for a time clock will produce a page full of companies touting time and attendance solutions.
“25 years ago there were three players in the time and attendance industry,” said Ernie Nabors, Vice-President of Operations. “Today, we compete with dozens of companies. Over the years we have seen many of these competitors come and go. Our longevity in the marketplace is due to many factors. We have a great team and a great product that truly helps companies save time and money. We’ve tried to create a business and a team that will work hard for the customer and each other. We have a lot of good people here that give their best every day.”

TimeClock Plus stands behind their company culture of always trying to ‘do what’s right and good’ with respect to the client as well as its employees.
Today, TimeClock Plus is the second oldest time and attendance company in the nation. Among the competition, TimeClock Plus is considered to be a formidable adversary – a reputation that the management team enjoys. “We try to do business the right way. We’re not perfect,” Nabors said, “but we seek perfection in our products, services and people. We don’t take our blessings for granted. We know we have something special here and we work hard to keep it that way.”

Continued Growth, A Quarter Century Tradition

Almost every single year is a record year at TimeClock Plus – more sales, more staff, more onsite installations, more user group meetings and more clients. “We have made record breaking a culture,” said Jordy Moorman, Vice-President of Sales.“We’re stronger today than we were yesterday and the future and market potential is the brightest it’s ever been. Every product we produce is better and better. It’s a great time to be part of this growing company,” Moorman continued. “It seems like every day we’re meeting about integration with another new payroll software company; we’re finding a fit within new verticals. It’s exciting for us to set goals and then exceed them month after month and year after year. Our travel schedule and client prospects lists have never been this full.”

Balance between Business and Community

“We can always count on TimeClock Plus to step up in the community,” said Phil Neighbors, President of the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce. “They also offer a strong economic multiplier to the city of San Angelo as almost all of their clients are outside the city. Their 25-year success is also San Angelo’s 25-year success.”

Just as a product is only as good as the company that stands behind it, a strong business is only as strong as its commitment to the community. TimeClock Plus provided approximately 10 million dollars of financial support to local charities over the last 25 years. Many TimeClock Plus employees volunteer at community events, fundraising endeavors, church led activities, and local committees. President Jorge Ellis encourages community involvement. “When we keep our community strong, we keep our company strong. Together we will all continue to have a bright future,” Ellis said.

TimeClock Plus Returns To NAPEO’s Professional Employer & Marketplace 2013

SAN ANGELO, Texas, Sept. 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — TimeClock Plus, a nationally recognized time and attendance industry leader, will attend the NAPEO Professional Employer and Marketplace 2013 to be held this year in San Antonio Texas. This is the largest event for the PEO industry and is scheduled to run September 9th through 11th. TimeClock Plus experts have attended NAPEO events before because of increasing demand for a low cost flexible hosted solution. As a result, TimeClock Plus OnDemand remains the product of choice for many PEOs.

“Having attended the NAPEO annual conference for the last several years, I’ve noticed a dramatic shift in PEO’s attitudes toward Time and Attendance systems,” said David Mulvey, Executive Sales Representative at TimeClock Plus. “Time clocks used to be an afterthought in the sales process when a PEO presented the value proposition to potential and existing clients. Today, regional PEOs are waking up and realizing that in order to compete with the national payroll service providers, time and attendance is a requirement. Our technology, support staff, and corporate stability make partnering with TimeClock Plus a no-brainer for PEOs.”

Many PEOs have found great results in developing an on-going relationship with a market leader like TimeClock Plus.

“Century II has always found TimeClock Plus ready to help evaluate our client needs and implement solutions. TimeClock Plus has been a valuable resource in our sales process and to our clients. The variety of data collection options allows us to say “yes” to more clients,” remarked Thom Coats, Sales Manager for Century II, an Outsourced Human Resource Services Provider. “When having to track Full Time and Full Time Equivalent Employees, often TimeClock Plus’ Benefits Status Monitor module is part of our Affordable Care Act strategy. The service and abilities of TimeClock Plus were both important in our choosing a time clock technology partner.”
